Danny Monaghan, a seasoned project manager, understands this well.
Recently, Monaghan and his team at Kidwell took on a challenging project at Westgate Elementary, working for the Westside Community School District.
Their mission was to provide a refreshed cabling solution, a programmable intercom system, and an AV setup to enhance the educational environment.
A collaborative effort
Monaghan’s role as project manager involved overseeing every aspect of the venture, from the initial kickoff to material procurement, budget management, and scheduling.
He takes pride in the collaborative effort that defined this undertaking.
“The major challenges I think that we’ve seen on this project is that the team has to navigate through making sure that cabling, intercom, and AV scopes of work are all on track and on schedule at the same time,” Monaghan said.
But Monaghan and his team were up for the challenge.
Through effective teamwork and collaboration, they successfully overcame these obstacles and delivered a project that met the client’s expectations.
Navigating challenges
One of the most significant challenges they faced was ensuring that the cabling, intercom, and AV scopes of work remained on track and on schedule simultaneously.
“The biggest hurdle is just the programming on the side of the AV and the intercom system,” Monaghan explained.
“Working directly with the customer, the end user, our team has been able to get a system functional and doing a great job.”
Through close collaboration with the client and end users, Monaghan and his team were able to navigate these challenges effectively.
They worked diligently to ensure that the programming for the AV and intercom systems was functional and met the client’s needs.
A quality product
Reflecting on the project, Monaghan is most proud of his team’s ability to come together and provide a quality product for the client.
“I’m proud of our team coming together and being able to provide a great product for our customer and building a relationship with Westside Community Schools for the foreseeable future,” he said.
The successful completion of the project not only delivered a refreshed CommScope cabling solution, a programmable ValComm intercom system, and a BIDSPEC AV setup but also fostered a lasting relationship with the Westside Community School District.

Michael Marsh, the Project Foreman for Integrated Systems, played a pivotal role in constructing a new elementary school, focusing on pulling data cabling and integrating communication devices. “Creating a path for all the data cabling was quite the challenge,” he explained, “but with clear communication and strategic use of tools, we managed to stay ahead of the curve.” Collaborating with electricians to fish cables through concrete walls and incorporating volume controls in pre-wired offices were innovative techniques that made the project unique. Reflecting on the project, Marsh expressed pride in the quality of the installation, particularly the neat cable paths and well-terminated patch panels. “Everybody maintained a focus on PPE, with no incidents or accidents, which is something I’m really proud of,” he noted, emphasizing the team’s commitment to safety and excellence.
